Taiwan: The Beacon of LGBTQ Rights in Asia

OUR PRIDE Video Fest & Summit is building on our many years of success in Taiwan with the CyberFair programs, which begain in 1999.   As Taiwan has become the leader in advancing the rights of LGBTQ people in Asia, we welcome people from throughout the country to participate.
Since 1999, Global SchoolNet has partnered with Taiwan Information Technology Education Development Association (Taiwan School Net). They have been instrumental in engaging 100,000+ youth throughout Taiwan and China in Global SchoolNet programs, including International CyberFair, Doors to Diplomacy, and Global Forest Link.

For the eight years of his term, Taiwan President Ying-Jiu Ma honored CyberFair award winners at recognition events at the Presidential Hall.

In 2004, Global SchoolNet in cooperation with the government of Kaohsiung city in Taiwan and the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, hosted an International CyberFair Affiliates meeting in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The purpose of this forum was to increase opportunities for global project-based learning and to share successful CyberFair implementation models from different countries. Attendees included education and business leaders from Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, Poland, and the USA.

One outcome of the summit was a Declaration of Global Friendship Through Education, signed by all the participants.
