Lisa is a social worker and activist originally from San Francisco, now living in Taiwan with her wife, Jenni, and their kids. With no film experience, Lisa and Jenni left their home to travel around the world in search of the people leading the LGBT equality movement.
Their film, "Out & Around" has since had a television broadcast, been featured in several international film festivals, and is currently available for on demand download worldwide. Their TED talk about what LGBT life is like around the world has over 2 million views. Lisa and Jenni are now in partnership with the It Gets Better Project to expand the educational impact of the film through a joint mission to share stories of hope around the world. |
When Lisa Dazols and Jenni Change fell in love, they vowed to follow a life of adventure. Their promise led them to leave their 9-to-5 jobs, pick up a video camera and travel to fifteen countries through Asia, Africa and South America in search of "Supergays," the people who are leading the movement for gay, lesbian and transgender equality in the developing world.
While interviewing LGBT leaders across the globe, Lisa and Jenni realized their journey could have larger impact beyond just self-growth, so they bought a book on how to make a documentary. Out & Around." the resulting film, now in English, Spanish, Chinese, and German, captures the momentous changes in the status of queer people around the world today. |
