Born in New Zealand, raised in Australia & studied film at NYU
Meera Angelica Joshi is a filmmaker and documentarian who loves to investigate our connection to each other and the Earth through humor and heart. She was born in New Zealand, raised in Australia and moved to New York City to study film at NYU. Driven by her curious spirit, Meera has made documentaries with farmers in the Andes of Peru and entrepreneurial villagers in India. Her short films have aired on Australian television, been featured in the New York Times and have played at film festivals internationally. | While in New York, Meera studied improv at the Magnet Theater and was inspired to infuse her work with the catharsis of laughter. She hopes to use comedy as a trojan horse that surfaces deeper topics on unsuspecting audiences. She believes in the power of community and has been an active member of collectives such as Pano, WOCU, Kalakars and the Pan Asian Screen Collective. She is currently in development for her first feature film “Ancestor” based on the true ghost story that haunted her family. |
